Due to a bumpy and degraded Austin track, MotoGP will have special memories of its last Grand Prix of the Americas which was also its first in the world afterwards. The meeting took place, of course, but the protagonists left the scene without hiding their resentment. And with the firm idea that in 2022, they will only return to Texas on the sole condition that the site has undergone renovation work on part of the circuit. Time is running out as the reunion is planned for April. But we already seem to be getting there...

Aleix Espargaró would have wanted a boycott as a sign of protest and Joan mir did not miss an opportunity to criticize the state of the Austin track, compared to a motocross track, but with asphalt and to be navigated with a rigid MotoGP of 290 hp... Bumps, holes, and a deep annoyance have therefore ruined part of the atmosphere of the Grand Prix of the Americas. Who will have to untie his purses to once again groom his route built on a swamp. Suffice to say that the evil is crippling.

But the same site hosts Formula 1 on October 24 and the category was not deaf to the criticisms made by MotoGP. There were even exchanges of expertise and opinions between the two categories through respective officials and federations. According to the site Motorsport, work has started to smooth out some of the bumps. But it will be interesting to know how the circuit will emerge from the torture that Formula 1, with their aerodynamic downforce, will inflict on it.

Austin: Formula 1 took its information from MotoGP

In this respect, we will remember that the decidedly committed on all fronts Aleix Espargaró had declared his regret at discovering that the circuit of losail was also going to receive Formula 1: “ I love Qatar. I like this circuit but Formula 1 cars destroy everything because of their downforce! So we'll see » he commented, adding: “ I'm happy for the Qataris because they will be able to enjoy MotoGP and Formula 1, which is fantastic. But regarding the track, it is very flat now and that is very good. And I hope they don't destroy it too much ».

To Austin, we will remember this image, showing that the track could also take revenge by being mistreated by the single-seaters…
