After going through Q1, George Martin qualified on pole position for the Grand Prix of the Americas by breaking the all-time track record in Austin.

Besides the fact that this is only the fifth time since the introduction of the current qualifying format in 2013 that a driver has qualified on pole after going through Q1, it is above all, with Jack Miller, Francis Bagnaia, Johann zarco et Enea Bastianini, the first 1-2-3-4-5 for Ducati in the premier class, and the first 1-2-3-4-5 for the same manufacturer in MotoGP for... a long time, with official statistics attributing this to Honda at Motegi in 2003 ! At the time, the victory had not escaped a Honda, in this case that of Valentino Rossi...

Today, the situation has been reversed and it is fabio quartararo, qualified 6th and first of the non-Ducati despite a fall in his first run, to try to challenge the supremacy of Borgo Panigale, or even to Marc Marquez, qualified 9th and first Honda driver and generally very comfortable on the COTA track. Between the two contenders for the clash with the reds, we also find the two Suzukis of alex rins et Joan Peace, usually faster in racing than in practice.

The last 5 minutes of qualifying:

While waiting to see who can really challenge the Transalpine Armada (tonight at 20:00 p.m.), this 20-minute warm-up takes place under a very veiled Texan sun, raising temperatures to 21° in the air and 26° on the asphalt partially redone, while the wind signals its presence more and more…

When the red lights go out... We go back to old habits and Franco Morbidelli rushes first. For once, it's not Fabio Quartararo who takes the track last but four drivers who remain in their box: Andrea Dovizioso, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez et Marc Marquez.

In terms of tires, it's a soft tire at the front for everyone, and a soft tire at the rear for almost the entire field with the exception of Johann zarco et Raul Fernandez who use the medium.

At the end of the first round, Alex Espargaro turns out to be the fastest of 2'04.827 while Marc Márquez is now the only rider who has not yet gotten on his motorcycle.

In the next passage, it is Takaaki Nakagami who leads the way in 2'04.332 but there are still a good half dozen to light up the first sectors in red...

Marc Márquez rushes off eight minutes into the session, without us being able to glimpse an explanation.

Enea Bastianini, the strong man in the predictions for the race, took command at the end of the third lap launched thanks to a 2'04.035 which did not contain the Aprilia ofAlex Espargaro than for 11/1000.

With eight minutes remaining in the session and the times starting to settle around those expected in the race, the hierarchy is made up of Enea Bastianini, Francesco Bagnaia, Aleix Espargaro, Jorge Martin, Pol Espargaro, Jack Miller, Brad Binder, Takaaki Nakagami, Maverick Vinales, Joan Mir, Alex Rins, Alex Márquez, Fabio Quartararo, Remy Gardner, Johann Zarco, Marco Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez , Marc Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Andrea Dovizioso, Luca Marini, Miguel Oliveira, Franco Morbidelli and Darryn Binder.

In the process, the two Aprilias take the lead, Maverick Vinales preceding his teammate in 2'03.684.

Three minutes later, Johann zarco positions itself third, Marc Marquez  sixth, Fabio Quartararo seventh.

Enea Bastianini et Francesco Bagnaia improve and fit between the two Aprilias but cannot dethrone Maverick Vinales.

The representative from Noale also puts it back in 2'03.647 in the last minute.
