Jack Miller Fabio Quartararo Australia

Jack Miller came close to a podium finish in Australia and admits he needs to "figure out how to have as much fun" on other circuits.

Super motivated by the fact of racing at home, in front of his fans, Jack Miller is having his best Grand Prix of the season. Although he didn't finish in the top ten yesterday and had to go through Q1 this morning, he finished third in Q2, earning himself a front row seat. This hasn't happened to an Australian driver on home soil since Casey Stoner in 2012.

Miller He then made a good start in the sprint race but found himself stuck behind Alex Márquez in fourth position. On the fifth lap, he managed to get past, but the Spaniard quickly regained his position, before Pedro Acosta, who was waiting behind, overtook both men in one go on the following lap. Although very close to him until the finish, the Australian rider was unable to make an attack.

Although he did not reach the podium, he nevertheless achieved his best result of the season, and was highly congratulated upon his return to the pits. “It was a fantastic day. Yesterday I was a bit frustrated: I had a good feeling, but I couldn't get everything lined up. The guys did a great job improving the bike, and it worked really well. I'm super happy with qualifying, and the sprint then turned into a great race,” did he declare.

“I had a great start, but I got stuck behind Alex. I tried to overtake him several times, but it wasn't easy. When I finally managed to pass him, Pedro came through and overtook us both, and the fight started again. I closed in on him several times in the final laps and tried everything, but he was defending his position perfectly in Turns 4 and 10. Well done to him!”

Jack Miller recognizes that the mental aspect played an important role in his performance this Saturday and that he must manage to keep the same energy on the other circuits. “Still, it was a great race, and I’m delighted to have made the Australian fans proud. Being here at home really helps me give my best. Now I just need to figure out how to put the same energy into every race and continue to enjoy it so much.”, he confided.
