Johann Zarco admits that the constant testing of parts and adjustments has held him back, and he hopes to do better tomorrow.
Johann zarco was unable to perform a miracle this Saturday on the Phillip Island circuit. Despite a good start to the Grand Prix yesterday in FP1, he finished outside the top 10 and had to go through Q1 this morning, from which he was unable to escape. Qualifying in 15th place, he could have hoped to score the point for ninth place, but the race was difficult, although with some good things according to him.
After losing a place at the start, he had a solid start to the race, moving up to 12th place. He was then overtaken by Enea Bastianini and remained in 13th place until the finish line, which he crossed in 12th place due to Fermín Aldeguer's crash in front. A quiet race, which still leaves him hoping for a better result tomorrow.
"The balls of not being able to progress", he said into the microphone of Canal +. "The race remains interesting. Start, first lap, I still managed to make a good place. We wanted to try something to give ourselves some feedback on the bike because, unfortunately, since Friday we haven't been able to work with stability. We tried small things because they are really details in the riding to improve tenths by tenths. We tried too big things because we are still doing a lot of tests to get feedback and give ourselves information on what has happened since we got the new engine, the new swingarm, etc. And then we were able to understand that indeed the new engine, the new swingarm, everything together, in my settings it takes away my sensation, it gives me less confidence and I go slower and I crash, I crashed again this morning."

"So we're sticking with the old one. Not the old bike, it's just the old engine but with the new chassis. We also put the normal aluminum swingarm back in to make the bike a little more malleable and at least work on my confidence. We can see that it's already better, there's the possibility of doing good things and it's only now that we're trying to adjust the bike, but it's too late. It's Saturday afternoon, we should have already started these adjustments during Friday."
"Unfortunately, with all this confusion that has been going on since the end of the summer, it's costing me time. We've put a few obstacles in our own way. We didn't put them in our own way, but it's a bit of a hindrance. I can't do any better, but I'm not doubting myself too much because it's a track I like and there are some good things. In the race, it wasn't bad, but not enough.", analyzed John Zarco.
“You always have to believe because little things can make a big difference. At least here we were able to see something pretty clear. Let’s see if we can do better tomorrow. It gives hope because, even if we compare ourselves to the other Honda riders, who are doing well at the moment, I was with them. Tomorrow we’ll see the conditions. They’re predicting a lot of wind. I can adapt to difficult conditions. If we can make the bike a little more malleable and it responds better to what I ask of it, the top 10 is achievable. I was almost there now, lacking pace, so if I have the pace, there’s a way to do it.”
