MotoGP Australia J2, Raul Fernandez (Aprilia Q4/S2) doesn't care: "I don't think about Bezzecchi or any other rider"

A Marco Bezzecchi on a mission swooped down on Raul, and once Fernandez's tyre capital was depleted, it was child's play for "Bez".

Raul Fernandez was still very happy with his day, which ended with his best result in MotoGP. « I'm happy, I did my bestIt was very important to get off to a good start: I was already second on the first lap. Then, when I saw that Alex was a bit wide, I tried to overtake him. Afterwards I just tried to stay relaxed; when I was in the lead I was calm on the bike and enjoyed the moment.I didn't feel like I was running, I was just enjoying the ride. Everything came easily, it was fantastic" he asserted for Motosan.

 

 

He felt that Bezzecchi was a cut above, and that there was nothing to be done. « When Marco caught up and overtook me, I tried to follow him, but I think I pushed too hard at the beginning of the race and destroyed the rear tire.. Anyway, we know it's a Sprint, only 13 laps, and there's no need to manage that much. When he overtook me, I just tried to finish the race well and get on the podium. It's important for me, for the team and also for Aprilia, because they're doing a great job. I'm really happy. If someone had told me this three races ago, I wouldn't have believed it. We're very consistent and working very well. We have shown that we can lead a race and set our own pace, which means the work is paying off." he added.

 

 

He, who dreams of a podium in MotoGP, has never been so close to his goal, especially since victory could well be within his grasp given the penalty that Bezzecchi will have to serve. « The main thing, as in the last races, is to focus on myself.I'm not thinking about Marco or any other rider; I'm just trying to give it my all. Tomorrow will be a tough race; I think the conditions will be tricky with the wind, but we'll have to make the most of it and do our best. Whether Marco comes back with a penalty or not doesn't matter: we have to focus on ourselves. » he concluded.
