Fabio Quartararo qualified on pole for the fifth time this season, setting a new lap record at Phillip Island. This fifth pole in Australia means that 2025 is his second-best MotoGP season in terms of poles, along with 2021. 

Marco Bezzecchi qualified second for his sixth top-three qualifying finish this season. In each of his previous top-three finishes, he finished on the podium in the Sprint and/or GP (including two Sprint wins at Misano and Mandalika). He took his fourth victory in Sprint so far with Assen in 2023 (riding a Ducati), and San Marino and Indonesia this year.

He will now attempt to claim his second MotoGP victory this year, with Silverstone, even if he will have to serve a double long lap penalty during the race. The only rider to have won a MotoGP Grand Prix after completing a long lap double is Jack Miller, who won the 2021 French GP under the flag-to-flag system. He is still fourth in the MotoGP World Championship but is now only 8 points behind Francis Bagnaia, third.

He is the first Australian on the front row at home since Casey Stoner in 2012 and will aim for his first Sprint podium since his third place in Germany in 2023. He moved up to P4 for his best Sprint result since joining Yamaha this year. He will attempt to reach the MotoGP podium for the first time with Yamaha and for the second time at home in Phillip Island with 2019 (P3).

Raul fernandez qualified fourth for his second best qualifying finish so far this year. He finished P2 for his second Sprint podium with Indonesia. With the victory of Bezzecchi, this is the first double Aprilia in a Sprint. He will be looking for his first MotoGP podium. His best MotoGP result to date is a P5 in Valencia 2023 and in Czech Republic this year.

Peter Acosta qualified fifth for the second consecutive time and is the best KTMHe finished P3 for his fourth Sprint podium so far this season with Czechia (P2), Austria (P3) and Japan (P3). He will attempt to claim his first MotoGP victory this Sunday.

Alex Marquez crashed in Q2 and qualified sixth as the best Ducati. He finished P6. With 92 points ahead of bagnaia in the championship and 100 on Marco Bezzecchi, he will have a chance to secure second place if he finishes the GP race with more than 111 points ahead of its nearest rival.

Francis Bagnaia qualified 11th for his worst qualifying result at Phillip Island, then received a three-place grid penalty. His worst qualifying result was 15th in his rookie season in 2019, although he finished fourth.

Ducati had no riders on the Sprint podium for the first time since the introduction of the Sprint format in 2023 (with 58 Sprints held so far).
