Everything is going very quickly MotoGP and not just motorcycles, as the journey ofAugusto Fernandez during the first day of the Australian Grand Prix at the Phillip Island circuit. Hero in the morning during FP1, the team's Rookie was in fact penalized in the afternoon. A day certainly filled with emotions…

The sun was shining and conditions were good as the 22 MotoGP riders set about the task of tuning their bikes for 45 minutes in preparation for the two races scheduled to take place this weekend.

Everyone then used the medium rear tire but everyone had their own strategy, and that of Augusto Fernandez consisted of only two runs: a first of 15 laps to quantify the wear of the tires, at the end of which the Madrilenian decided to fit two new tires in order to tease the time, like George Martin et Maverick Vinales.

The result was not long in coming, the number 37 slotting in between the two headliners, 0.720 seconds behind the Prima Pramac driver, to the great joy of the GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 team!

Unfortunately, the afternoon was going to take another turn for Augusto Fernandez, marked by an incident with fabio quartararo during practice, which means that he will be automatically demoted by three positions on the starting grid for the main race, which will take place exceptionally on Saturday October 21 due to the bad weather conditions forecast for Sunday October 22.

The Spaniard was in fact advancing at moderate speed on the trajectory at the end of the session, when the Yamaha rider arrived trying to do a timed lap. This penalty therefore somewhat thwarts the good start to the weekend for the rookie who generally needs a little more time than the others to adapt to a new track, but nevertheless remains only 0,713 seconds behind the man fastest of the day.

Augusto Fernandez : “It's a very positive day for us because we had the pace from the first practice session this morning. Normally, it's Friday that I have the most difficulty because it's always a "new" circuit for me, since it's my first season in MotoGP, but we felt good very quickly, and the rhythm was there, both during FP1 and Practice. I'm a little disappointed not to be in the top 10, but we have another chance to reach Q2 tomorrow morning, so let's try to take a step forward! »
