It was in sixteenth and last place that five-time World Champion and official Honda driver Jorge Lorenzo finished his Australian Grand Prix. A result which therefore could not be worse, but which nevertheless has aggravating circumstances. In the race, he was sometimes caught by up to 5 seconds per lap by his teammate and winner Marc Márquez, to whom he gave more than a minute at the finish line at Phillip Island. The beginner on Honda, Johann Zarco, took him 40s with a satellite RC213V from 2018. Even if Por Fuera had warned that it would be difficult, no one had imagined that it would be so difficult for him...

It is a race transformed into a field of ruin that Jorge Lorenzo had to comment upon the arrival of Australian Grand Prix. A nightmare that began at the start of the meeting and was first marked by a 19e place in Q1. But what happened next was going to be worse... The Mallorcan did not win any position and was the last driver to cross the finish line with an alarming difference of one minute and six seconds compared to the winner of the race, his teammate Marc Marquez. It's Jorge's biggest gap to the winner since returning from injury at Silverstone.

« I already knew I was going to suffer, you expect things to change but they don't », regretted the Majorcan on Todocircuito after his Australian Stations of the Cross. “ In Malaysia, under normal conditions, we hope everything will be better. »

On his setbacks, he specifies: “ it was very cold and very windy. I tried to save the tire as much as I could, but I didn't succeed and the last few laps were very bad. » It will be recalled that he was equipped with the same mount as that of his teammate Marc Márquez.

Jorge Lorenzo also regrets that his physical state is still a source of concern: “ because of the wind you must try to have the head most forward, closer to the front wheel, more in the fairing, to try to prevent the wind from influencing the stability of the front wheel. And it forces the neck and the part of my wound. You have to grip the motorcycle harder when accelerating due to windt. »

Lorenzo is clear and recognizes “ to have suffered a lott” in this Australian Grand Prix, and not just physically: “ in addition to the physical suffering, I never had good sensations or a feeling of security during the weekend and especially during the race »

With this result today, Lorenzo continues to lose places in the MotoGP general classification. He is now 19th with 23 points and has four consecutive runs outside the points. The last time that Lorenzo managed to increase his capital, it was at the San Marino Grand Prix last September, where he scored two points. The question that now arises insistently is no longer knowing when things will get better for Jorge Lorenzo, but rather when all this will definitely end.
