After a difficult start after the MotoGP summer vacation, Yamaha rider Alex Rins returns to the track with determination. Forced to abandon the British Grand Prix due to persistent pain following his injury at the Assen TT, Rins returned to the handlebars this Friday for the first day of the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring by Spielberg. Despite a 17th place at the end of the day, Rins was optimistic, as he confided to Manuel Pecino.
« The results of this Friday are quite positive, " said Kidneys in comments relayed by motosan. " I felt pretty good physically on a track which, from the outside, may seem easy, but which is in reality very demanding. It's a difficult track, with a lot of sudden braking where the even the slightest mistake can be costly. I am satisfied because we succeeded to be competitive, even if, with new tires, we are still a little far away. There is still much work to do, but we must not give up. You have to keep working and pushing."
alex rins also noted improvements in his solo performance: “ I was more competitive than the other times, which allowed me to rank fifth or sixth at some point. We got ahead of the soft tire, making three attempts instead of two, because we didn't use it during FP1. We let's try to understand where we can be faster."
Alex Rins: “ it's very difficult not to be able to take the plunge and regain the competitiveness that I had with the Suzuki »
The mind plays an essential role in the recovery of Kidneys, which not only has to face the technical challenges of Yamaha , but also overcome the after-effects of his injury. “ It's very difficult not to be able to take the plunge and regain the competitiveness that I had with the Suzuki, to fight for victories and podiums. I hope that comes with work. On a physical level, it is also difficult. You have to be mentally strong. It's not easy to come back after an injury, to get back on the bike without being 100%, to worry about whether the pain will be there or not. But in the end, we give everything, and maybe that's where the difference is made."
alex rins remains determined to continue his improvement throughout the weekend, with the hope of returning to the top of the rankings in the near future.
