Difficult day for Fabio Quartararo in Austria, one more. The situation has been more than tortuous for several Grands Prix, and this did not improve during the two sessions contested this Friday at the Red Bull Ring. Certainly, the feeling on the handlebars was a little better in the afternoon than in the morning, but this did not translate into a spectacular rise in the rankings. Fabio Quartararo will have to go through Q1 tomorrow morning. The task promises to be tough, of course, but the Frenchman believes in it firmly.
“El Diablo” is not one to give up. This morning, nothing was going well in FP1 which he described as “horrible”. « It was impossible, fortunately it was sorted out later. We changed the setting to something we had never tried before. It wasn't revolutionary, but it was still a little better than this morning, in any case much more regular. We are still very far behind, but we are content with that, given our delay » affirmed the 2021 MotoGP world champion at the microphones of GP One.

Fabio went into detail, allowing us to understand this change between the two sessions. « The braking was too much on the front, the rear floated a lot. It was too aggressive, we had to find a way to limit this effect and keep the rear wheel on the ground, at least when braking » he confided. “We can still push in this direction tomorrow. Although I wouldn't want to touch the bike too much, we need to make changes because we have no speed » he continued in a rather worrying manner.
Despite everything, he remains hopeful. He can dream of qualifying in Q2, unless he beats Pedro Acosta and Miguel Oliveira, among others, in Q1. “It’s possible. Usually I say it when we have no chance of going straight to Q2, but tomorrow there is hope. I was much better in the afternoon and finally, Pedro Acosta and Jack Miller are within the same tenth of a second » he concluded. Fabio Quartararo, as a great champion, is perfectly capable of getting out of such a situation.
