The Austrian Grand Prix, although contested on “home” terrain for KTM, was anything but easy for Pedro Acosta. The GASGAS driver, who started from fourteenth position on the grid after a disappointing qualifying, failed to improve his situation during Sunday's race. Indeed, Acosta was only able to regain one place, finishing the Grand Prix in thirteenth position, a result which leaves a bitter taste for the rookie.
« We came with enthusiasm and I leave with a pain in my chest,” said one Pedro Acosta visibly frustrated. “ There were a lot of problems that I didn't expect, and I still don’t understand why they happened.. » These words clearly reflect the state of mind of the young driver, who seems to be questioning himself after a lackluster weekend. “ I have to sit down cold and calmly analyze what happened."
Acosta also mentioned that he will go to Misano to follow the private tests, where the test team of KTM, conducted by Dani Pedrosa, will try to understand and resolve the problems encountered. “ We had the best tester who is Dani Pedrosa,” he stressed, highlighting the positive influence of the experienced Spanish pilot. “ I think we will be able to understand several things about how they achieve development."
Pedro Acosta: “ I don't have enough balls to say the bike is bad »
Despite his disappointment, Peter Acosta refuses to blame KTM for his poor performance. “ I don't have enough balls to say 'the bike is bad',” he admitted with a certain humility. “ We generally suffer; even Binder, who finished fifth, finished eighteen seconds behind. We must understand what is missing."
The rookie, although bitterly disappointed, remains determined to improve and learn lessons from this difficult weekend. “ I'm sorry I didn't get to Q2, because everything would have been easier,” he concluded, well aware that qualifying is a key element for better racing performance.
Acosta knows that the road is still long, but he is ready to work hard to get back on the path to success, refusing to let this disappointment get him down by Austria.
