This Sunday August 15, 2021, Jorge Martín answered questions from journalists from the Red Bull Ring circuit, at the end of the Austrian Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the Spanish driver, who failed to achieve the double on the Red Bull Ring after his victory last week in Austria, but still achieved a convincing result with obtaining a new podium.

As usual, we report here the words of Jorge Martín without the slightest formatting.

Jorge, can you come back to this race where you again scored a podium?

" Yes I had to explain how the race went, it would take me a month [laughs]! We started the race with the hard tire at the front, which I only had the opportunity to try for one lap yesterday. I think we took a big gamble there too and I was confident, but as soon as I found myself at the front trying to escape I went wide and found myself in fourth position. »

"The The front tire then started to heat up a lot, and I was having a lot of difficulty finding the rhythm. When the raindrops appeared, I took a lot of risks to try to catch up with the leading group. I started to do some overtaking. I overtook Fabio Quartararo but also Pecco Bagnaia, but there was a big battle among all these drivers to get a place on the podium, and then when I saw that the rain was increasing in intensity and that Marc Márquez as well as Bagnaia was returning to the stands, I said to myself that it was time to go there too. »

"When I came out of the pits and was still in third position. It was really very difficult with the rain tires to stay on the bike. I would like to congratulate Brad Binder, because it must have been something to manage to stay on the track even with the slick tires. When I started the last lap I was in 11th position, and I told myself that I had ruined my race, but looking up a little I saw while I was only in turn 1 that the other drivers on slicks were only in the third corner. »

" There I told myself it was time to give my best and attack. I came into turn 7 and passed six or seven drivers in two turns. It was actually a little difficult to avoid them all! But when I crossed the line I saw that I was on the podium I was very impressed and very happy, maybe even more than last week, because it was really something unexpected. The record is really good, with two podiums and two pole positions in two races, it's really amazing. »

“Deux podiums et deux pole positions en deux courses, c’est vraiment incroyable”
