Austria Di Giannantonio

Fabio Di Giannantonio went up in smoke in Austria! It's a rare occurrence these days, but his engine simply blew up shortly before Turn 4. This ends a rather complicated weekend for "Diggia", who is struggling to establish himself on the only unofficial Ducati Desmosedici GP25. Clearly, he is far from fighting for victories, but worse: he has not scored a single point in the last three Grands Prix. He looks back on his race.

His ordeal ended abruptly when his engine broke down. “The bike was normal. I saw smoke, and it happened. I didn't expect that." he declared to our microphones, before returning to the difficulties he encountered this season. "It's difficult to always be within the bike's performance window. The problem with that is that I didn't have any tests this winter. And of course, it's difficult to fight for the championship without testing." he confided.

As a reminder, he was injured in Sepang during the winter tests after doing a wheelie. He, who loves to overtake, was unable to express his art in Austria, a track that punishes any risk-taking. His approach to this event was very different from the others. « I knew I shouldn't push the tires too hard.. I didn't want to give too much away by doubling Zarco, for example, I aimed to be very patient" he continued.

Asked about the difference between the GP25 and the GP24, and more generally between his 2024 and 2025 season, "Diggia" recalled the terrible reality. « The riders make more difference than the bikeI'm riding faster than last year, but every weekend I have new problems. I already have three podiums, last year I had none. There were some circumstantial issues, yes, but that doesn't mean I'm any less good than I was in 2024. » he concluded.
