Disillusioned, Fabio Quartararo can only note that the four Yamahas finished in the last four places of the race in Austria.
fabio quartararo has well and truly known his worst weekend since the start of the seasonHe and the other Yamaha riders have been at the back of the field throughout practice, qualifying, and even races, and today's was no exception. While the Frenchman has always finished ahead of his teammates, he's still a long way behind the other manufacturers, and the difference in performance was particularly noticeable this Sunday.
Despite a good start, he remained stuck at the back of the standings and even dropped as low as 18th, before overtaking Jack Miller for 17th place. Jorge Martín's crash and Fabio Di Giannantonio's retirement allowed him to move up to 15th and score a point, ahead of the other three Yamahas.
When it came time to debrief his race, he was blunt and disillusioned, without having much to add that he hadn't already said. "I think there's nothing to learn, we have to turn the page because it's a Grand Prix that didn't do us much good. The Yamahas finished five or six seconds behind Ai Ogura who was in 14th position so it's tough, but I don't know how we're going to bounce back.", he told Canal +.
“Unfortunately, there’s nothing that can make me smile today. I was expecting this kind of race. From the first lap, you know it’s not going well. I was behind Jack for a few laps and he’s the only bike that reacts in a way… How can you slide into fourth on the straight? It’s unacceptable. I saw the other bikes, the Ducati, the Aprilia, not the KTM because they were all in front, but none of them slide into fourth on a straight.”, he added during his debriefing.
"This is the circuit where I've had the most podium finishes, and in 2024 I think we finished 36 seconds behind, and this year 25. It's a circuit where I've always been fast. The others have made a huge step forward and we haven't done anything on it."
