A poor Austrian weekend ends for the Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci. He finished ninth, having never been in the game, worse having even been beaten by the rookies Francis Bagnaia et Miguel Oliveira who are ahead of him, one on the Ducati of Alma Pramac, and the other, on the KTM of Tech3.

Having started from twelfth position on the starting grid, the Terni driver never had the pace in the race. However, he retains third place in the championship behind his teammate, Andrea Dovizioso. He is now 36 strides from his Fer de Lance.

“Petrux” comments on his race: “ it was a complicated race. Unfortunately, at the first corner I got caught in the pack and after a few laps I was involved in Crutchlow's accident. I lost a lot of positions and I had to make an effort by putting a lot of strain on my tires. After half the race, nothing became possible. I'm disappointed with this weekend because I missed a great opportunity. It didn't work out in qualifying yesterday and that compromised everything that followed.  I'm really sorry for the team who worked hard for us to achieve a good result. "We must now debrief after these two races and look forward positively to Silverstone."

The teammate of the winner of the day concludes: “ Maybe I need to do a reset, maybe I need to think less about the championship because it's still a long time. I need to start concentrating again on finishing each race at the front rather than finishing third in the championship. I think that's the key.".
