If we look at the last races before the summer break and the first two of the start of the school year, we can conclude that the fate of Valentino Rossi has improved. Sixth at Brno last weekend, he finished fourth in his subsequent Austrian Grand Prix. He moved back in front of his teammate Viñales in the championship, and the official Yamaha stood up to the Suzuki of Rins. All the indicators would be green if it weren't for a satellite M1 led by Fabio Quartararo...

The second part of the MotoGP season is not a bad bet for a Valentino Rossi who is starting to score points again. This meeting with the Red Bull Ring track was feared by the Doctor riding a Yamaha with a weak engine. But finally, Red leaves Styria happy: “we can talk about a good weekend with a great race” said the 40-year-old Italian.

Red has followed : " from FP1 the results were good, we improved the consistency and grip of the tires. I started well, I performed well from the first laps. I moved up a lot of positions. I had a good start towards the podium, but unfortunately the guys in front of me were a little faster, especially Dovi and Márquez. But it was also a bit the case for Quartararo ».

« So I couldn't stay with Fabio. Looks like he was stressed less the rear tire, so he could take the soft behind, I went with the medium. As it was cooler than Saturday, we could have taken the soft tire. But I had big problems with this rear tire during testing. That's why I think the medium was the best choice for me in the race. But it provides less grip. But we have to admit: Quartararo is fast, he did a fantastic job » recognizes the teammate Maverick Vinales.

« Overall, it's a positive result, but I suffered a little. This is why Viñales and Rins have caught up. I was driving well, I rode in front, so I don't want to complain about 4th place ". His Austrian performance makes him optimistic for the future: “ looks like the second half of the season started off better than the first. In the spring, we experienced very negative races. But since then, something has changed at Yamaha. They are now working more diligently, we are making progress. On Friday we already saw that we can take a step forward in the areas of electronics and acceleration ».

He finishes : " we have been more competitive here, although we have always had problems there. Of course, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Dovi and Marc with the Ducati and the Honda are faster than us. But we are improving. At Silverstone, I hope to have good weather. I really like this track, and with the new surfacing and fewer bumps, it should be a perfect track for Yamaha ».
