During the last eventful Austrian Grand Prix, both on the track and behind the scenes, which took place last weekend, he was a driver who experienced a meeting exactly the way he feared it. This is Álex Rins who was expecting a relatively modest performance on a Red Bull Ring which only offered disadvantages to his agile Suzuki. And he was not disappointed...

Alex Rins finished sixth in this eleventh round of the championship without ever having been able to be a candidate for the podium. Disappointment ? Not really. Because it was expected whereas last year, the performance was even less brilliant with an eighth final position. “ It was a tough race for us, especially in the fight against Maverick Viñales. It was complicated for me because, as expected, we had brake problems on this track " Explain Kidneys.

« The aim was to improve on last year's result and it worked. I was able to control the tires until the end of the race, but we have to continue working on the bike because we had a lot of movement on the front wheel, it also locked very often, which made me left in mind this line of work: the braking phasese ”.

Especially at the start of the race, with a full tank, it was difficult to slow down the bike. “ It was impossible for me to follow Fabio Quartararo ". The Petronas Yamaha rider led the race through the first five laps, finishing third behind Andrea Dovizioso et Marc Marquez.

Kidneys spent most of the race in a group of three with the two factory Yamahas, to whom he ultimately lost. “ We know our problems and knew it would be difficult for us on this tracke” insists the pilot Suzuki.

In summary, sixth place is a respectable result. “ On the other hand, we lost ground on Dovizioso” regrets the Spaniard who warns: “but from now on, there are tracks that I like and which are more in line with our wordo”. These are Misano, Aragon, Malaysia, Japan and also Silverstone. See you at the next round of the calendar which will be the British Grand Prix.
