Of the eight contenders for pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix powered by Ducati, it is ultimately Enea Bastianini who hit the jackpot. First pole for the Gresini rider in MotoGP but 7th different pole-sitter since the opening race of the season in Qatar, which is already one more than last year, the absolute record being eight. Pole position is a dish to be shared this year…

Ducati monopolizes the rest of the front row with Francis Bagnaia et Jack Miller, which reminds us that the Borgo Panigale firm has won six of the eight MotoGP™ races at the Red Bull Ring since 2016: we at least know the favorite brand!

In the second line, we still find two Desmosedici, those of George Martin (poleman for both races at the Red Bull Ring last year and winner of the first) and Johann zarco, but inserted between the two, our fabio quartararo national which resists as best it can the power of the Italian V4s.

Finally we find on the third row the two Aprilias of Maverick Vinales and D'Alex Espargaro (his worst result since his 13th place at COTA this year) framing the Suzuki of Joan mir.

But before seeing how the 28 laps of this afternoon's race will go, the MotoGP riders (including Lorenzo Savadori with his Aprilia evoking Noale's first world title in 1992) have 20 minutes of warm up under the overcast skies of Styria.

While waiting to discover more, the 25 pilots are now preparing to face a completely dry track under uncertain skies, with temperatures of 17° in the air and 20° on the ground.

When the red lights go out... Johann zarco sets off first on the track as he did several times this weekend.

In terms of tires, we immediately note that certain drivers, like Joan mir et Stefan Bradl, set off on rain tires, probably to change machines for a flag to flag race.

Johann zarco recorded the first time in 1'31.797 and continued in 1'30.571 at the end of the second flying lap.

Meanwhile, fabio quartararo saw his first two laps canceled for exceeding the track limit.

When changing motorcycles for a flag to flag race, the heel ofAlex Espargaro remembers his good memories...

At the end of the fourth round, Fabio Quartararo takes command in 1'29.800, ahead of Maverick Vinales, Alex Rins, Luca Marini, Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Johann Zarco, Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin and Joan Mir regarding the top 10.

Eight minutes from the end of the session, the flags signaling raindrops are waved...

The drops turn into light rain and the times slow down.
