Article updated continuously until the end of the session

With Jorge Martin and Fabio Quartararo separated by only 34 thousandths of a second and relegating the rest of the field to more than 4 tenths, the qualification of the Austrian Grand Prix on the Red Bull Ring circuit clearly designated the fastest on a lap, each of them having successively been rewarded with a new record of the turn.

However, this afternoon's race will consist of 28 laps, and the four-cylinder Yamaha of the French driver seems very lonely, surrounded by an armada of V4s occupying the rest of the first two rows of the starting grid.

While waiting for this undoubtedly crucial moment of the race, the 20 drivers who will compete have 20 minutes to fine-tune their final settings... and practice for the start.

The sky is still partially cloudy and the temperatures are 24° in the air and 25° on the asphalt, absolutely ideal weather conditions!

By the time the 20 pilots (Lorenzo Savadori has been declared “unfit”) are getting ready, let’s enjoy these few minutes of live broadcast thanks to the official website MotoGP.com :

When the red lights go out... Alex Marquez and Joan Mir are the first to set off, Fabio Quartararo and Enea Bastianini the last.

We note that quite a few drivers are on rain tires and will undoubtedly stop during a lap, with a view to a possible flag to flag race.

Indeed, this is the case, in particular for Jorge Martin, Takaaki Nakagami, Pol Espargaro and Marc Marquez, because the forecasts are not excellent for this afternoon.

In terms of tires, the choices are mainly on the medium at the rear, although some drivers use the soft, and on the medium at the front, although a few drivers use the new hard.

At the end of the first round, Fabio Quartararo entered the reference in 1'24.983 then 1'24.114, 1'23.942 and 1'23.629 in the following passages.

Midway through the session, The Devil precede Francesco Bagnaia, Aleix Espargaro, Jorge Martin, Johann Zarco, Miguel Oliveira, Miller, Brad Binder, Marc Marquez and Alex Rins.

This is the moment when Johann zarco climbs back into second position but the Frenchman falls at high speed a few moments later at turn #9, fortunately without seriousness.

Conversely, his compatriot continued the laps in 1'23 without stopping, clearly showing that he is the strong man in this warm-up.
