At the start of this 2019 MotoGP season, the men of Suzuki barely dared to stammer that their campaign would be a great success if their GSX-RR managed to take a victory. Success arrived in Austin. Their leader on the ground Davide Brivio then challenged him that a second achievement would be like touching bliss. And the second achievement occurred in the final meters of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone… Each time with the same Álex Rins. And now ? Suzuki no longer dares to say anything, but thinks out loud...

In 2018, Alex Rins stood on the podium five times. His former teammate Andrea Iannone, achieved four more results in the top 3. Furthermore, in the last six races of this past season, a GSX-RR climbed onto the podium five times. In 2019, Kidneys took the first victory of his MotoGP career in Austin, Texas, and at Silverstone he did it again. The 23-year-old Spaniard is in third place in the general classification with three podiums recorded in his last seven races.

« In 2019 we have been competitive in several races so far. Last year our goal was to get closer to the top group in the first six races, and I would say we did that consistently from the middle of the season onwards »Comments Davide Brivio, team manager Suzuki ecstar. " But this year we took the same path as at the end of last season and we raised the bar by setting ourselves the objective of winning at least one race. So far we have won two and I would say that we owe it to our great consistency. »

He explains : " Above all, we progressed with the bike, then we refined and improved many technical aspects. Rins has also evolved a lot: he has matured quickly and is now in his third MotoGP season. In my opinion, he has become a top driver in all respects, especially because he is able to fight well in all races. »

« If we can continue at this pace, continue to improve our results and maintain consistency, we can still be in the podium battle. I would say the realistic goal at the moment is to fight for the podium in every race. It's going to be hard, but we have to try " said Brivio.

« It is important to continue to do well. When you haven't won a race, you want to have one. Once you win one, you want to be on top a second time, and now we have two wins and we want to keep going » enthuses the team manager Suzuki. " On the other hand, it is of course more and more difficult to surpass oneself because staying at the top is always more complicated. In a sense, we have this to our credit: we cause problems because we set more ambitious goals at each stage. » A rich man's problem, as they say.
