Another disappointing day for Alex Rins in Barcelona. While his teammate Fabio Quartararo was in Q2, Alex could do no better than 15th in qualifying and 16th in the Sprint. In Barcelona, perhaps more than anywhere else, it is difficult to move up the places due to the profile of the circuit and this funnel-shaped turn 1. Those behind often get caught out there, and this can result in a failed race as was the case for Alex Rins.
Quickly, his race was compromised by a slight collision in the first bends: « I tried to avoid Pedro Acosta, and I started from last position. Based on this observation, the race was not so bad. When I reached Marini, my tire was dead. I tried to overtake him, but I locked the front at turn 1, I had nothing left » he told our microphones at the end of this Saturday.

While Yamaha seems to be making some progress as Quartararo's results today prove, Rins still has some technical issues to resolve: « We're still struggling, especially at the rear and with traction, but in a sense, we're making progress.. Tomorrow, with a little more luck and a good start, we can do better. Maybe around 13th position. » he continued on a slightly more positive note.

Since Qatar, Rins has not been able to find the best setting, he cannot exploit his YZR-M100 to 1%: « The progression is a bit stopped, it's not like in Sepang. Compared to Fabio Quartararo, it's true that it's okay. I'm still a bit lost in terms of settings. I haven't managed to find my ideal set-up until now, I can't let myself get carried away by the bike, I have to overdrive it" he concluded.
