Miguel Oliveira won a MotoGP de Catalunya thrilling in front of more than 20 spectators, which gives hope that the competition will return to normal. Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) and Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) complete the podium.

The FIM Enel MotoE round World Cup, reduced to six laps after a delayed start, was won by Miquel Pons ahead of Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP) and Jordi Torres (Pons Racing 40) in second and third positions respectively.

In MotoGP, Johann Zarco established a new race lap record (1min39) thanks to his MICHELIN Power Slicks Medium front and Hard rear, while in Q939 on Saturday, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) won his fifth pole position in a row while improving the circuit record in 2min1s38, helped by its MICHELIN Power Slicks Medium front and Soft rear.

Fermín Aldeguer (OpenBank Aspar Team) broke the absolute MotoE lap record with 1min50s399 achieved in FP3 on Saturday, while Eric Granado (One Energy Racing) set a new race lap record with 1min50s769 after starting from pit lane due to a minor technical problem.

On a circuit that was still “green” on Friday due to the poor grip offered by this track and the temperature variations throughout the weekend, which complicated the tire choices for the drivers and teams. To find the best settings, all MICHELIN Power Slick options were tested during all Free Practice sessions and the tire choices were modified on the starting grid.

In the MotoE paddock, Michelin's new interactive demonstration module was a great success with fans. This module explains all the innovations implemented by Michelin to increase the percentage of sustainable materials in its tires. And MotoE leads the way with 33 and 40 percent bio-based and recycled materials in the front and rear tires, respectively. This module shows what these biosourced and recycled materials are (carbon black, steel, food waste, etc.)

Piero Taramasso, Michelin Motorsport Two-Wheel Manager, said: “ Before arriving in Catalonia, we knew the characteristics of this circuit and its lack of grip very well. We selected our tire allocation accordingly to give the drivers the best opportunities to complete fast and consistent laps – which was demonstrated perfectly by Miguel – and to provide an exciting and intense race. We are very satisfied with the performance of our tires on this difficult track where slippage and wear are particularly high. »

« Our new interactive sustainable materials demonstration module was unveiled to the public on Saturday, World Environment Day. It was a pleasure to talk about the Michelin Group's All Sustainable strategy in the context of MotoE and to show that motorsport can be a leader in terms of developing tires that are both more environmentally friendly and highly efficient on the track. . »
