Like Takaaki Nakagami who prayed in front of some stickers in tribute to Shoya Tomizawa at the end of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Álex Rins went to pay his respects in front of the giant portrait of Luis Salom at the end of the Catalan Grand Prix.
He then dedicated his podium to her in his hot declaration.
The 3 2016 June, Luis Salom left us at the age of 24 on the Catalunya–Barcelona circuit during FP2, following an accident for which the responsibility apparently falls overall on the Spanish driver, according to a detailed report from Danny Aldridge, MotoGP Technical Director.
However, this accident led to a significant modification of the circuit with, initially, the addition of a chicane at the bend concerned, then a return to a layout closer to the original after having enlarged the clearance zones and moved a Tribune.
The late “Mexicano” still remains very present in the hearts of many Spanish drivers who raced with him.
