This press conference of the Grand Prix from Catalonia MotoGP 2025 met in Barcelona Alex Marquez, Marc Marquez et Enea Bastianini for their debriefing, after another weekend dominated by the Marquez brothers.

Marc Marquez finished second, securing his 13th Grand Prix podium this season, ending a run of seven consecutive double victories (Sprint and Grand Prix). With Marc in second, it was the first Marquez one-two finish, with Alex having won the race. He now leads the world championship with 487 points, 182 more than his brother Alex, meaning he will not have a chance to win the title at the next Grand Prix at Misano.

As usual, we report here in full the words of the latter, without the slightest formatting, even if it is translated from English.

🎤 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the post-race press conference here at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, following the Monster Energy Gran Premio de Catalunya. Our three riders on the podium after the 24-lap race in Barcelona: the winner, BK8 Gresini Racing rider Alex Márquez. This is only his second MotoGP victory, from pole position. It's another one-two for Márquez in 2025. Marc, second today, will no longer be able to claim the title starting at Misano next weekend, but this solid result brings him one step closer to a 7th MotoGP title. Another great day for the Márquez brothers! And to round off the podium, what a weekend for Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini, who scored his first Grand Prix podium with KTM and the Tech3 team. Gentlemen, congratulations to all three of you!

🎤 Marc, second place today here in Barcelona with the Ducati Lenovo Team. You really gave it your all, you were on the limit every lap of this Grand Prix, but today Alex had that little something extra, didn't he?
Marc Marquez: “I tried, I tried all weekend, giving my maximum, and since FP1, he was one or two tenths ahead of me. With the new tire a little more, but especially with the used tire, his pace was too strong for me. That's the pace he was able to maintain. But anyway, I tried, I tried.
In the first part of the race, my main strategy was to follow him. Even at one point, on the third or fourth lap, I cut the gas on the straight, because the strategy was to stay behind him, save tires, increase the gap to the third-placed driver and try to attack in the final part of the race.
That's what I did: with 7-8 laps left, I tried to give it my all, but at Turn 7 I went a bit wide, I tried to catch up at Turn 10, I went even wider, and at that point I lost. This second place was enough, because yesterday as today, there was a driver faster than us on the track."

🎤 And I guess it's a little easier to accept that you're not going to Misano next weekend with your first match point for the championship, because you never like to lose, but I guess it's a little easier to lose when it's your little brother who beats you...
Marc Marquez: “It’s never easy, because it’s racing. Racing is racing, and I always give my all; we always try to win. But you know, in the end, Alex deserves it. Since his hand injury, he’s had some strange races, but regardless, he’s the only Ducati rider who managed to beat me at Silverstone in the sprint race. He managed to beat me today. Yesterday, he was faster than me, because his strengths match my weaknesses, and vice versa. We’re brothers, but with different riding styles.”

🎤 Last year at Sachsenring was the first time we saw you and your brother compete, and now it's almost become a habit. What are your first memories of training together? When did you start doing it? And how does it change the way you compete on the track?
Marc Marquez:
“As Alex said, that’s why he’s super strong mentally, because he’s trained with me all his life. I was three years older and I was always faster than him. So it’s true that when you get to around 20, 23, everything becomes more balanced, but he suffered more than me on the bike, he suffered more than me in the gym, because he did the same physical training as me, but at a younger age. Now we have a super good relationship, stronger than ever, because I want the best for him and he wants the best for me. And yes, it’s incredible that there are seven races left and we’re first and second in the championship. It’s something that has never happened before and it will be difficult for it to happen again in the future.”

(I.e. Marc, from 1 to 10, how difficult was it to curb your winning instinct? After all, you had a winning streak going, and we know you very well. So, how difficult was it to stop that instinct, since you talk about it often…
Marc Marquez: "Yes, but the fact is that, as I was telling you from Austria, or since the summer break, I was telling you that one day someone will be faster than me and that I should accept it. So I keep this sentence in mind. Today, David Tardozzi told me: “Maybe today is the day. Maybe. You have to try, you have to try, but…”

Alex Marquez: “But you tried too long! (Laughs)”

Marc Marquez: “Yes, but I tried. You see at Turn 10, I dived… and then I had a flashback of what happened to you yesterday (laughs). But I will always try, sometimes you try and sometimes you can. Today with Alex, last year with Pecco, here… Yesterday, I told the Spanish journalists, I predict a race like this. I said: “I'll follow Alex, and maybe in the end I'll try, but he'll be faster than me.”. And it was exactly the same race as last year here with Pecco: following the whole race, and in the last laps they had a little more. But for me, the most important thing for a championship is that on a circuit where I encounter difficulties, I stay close to the fastest driver.

🎤 Marc, knowing that in the last two corners Alex is faster than you, did you expect him to overtake you sooner or later in the first corner using the slipstream? And five laps before the end, when you were two tenths behind him, did you think you could overtake him?
Marc Marquez: “Yes! I mean, that was the last push, like I said. That was the last time I pushed, but also, when you're following someone, the front temperature increases. I was struggling, but the problem was that he passed me and why I couldn't pass him. It's because he was really, really good in the last two corners. I was arriving late to the braking point. He was always very fast and coming very close, passing me, and then he was great in Turn 9, another passing point at Turn 10, and I was still arriving late. There was only the possibility of making up time, but not passing him.”

(I.e.  Alex and Marc, can you explain to the fans a little bit what happens for you the next day when you finish first and second in MotoGP? Is there a change in training? A little madness at home? What happens?
Alex Marquez: "No, nothing changes in our schedule. Tomorrow we will return to Madrid."

Marc Marquez: “ Today we deserve a little treat. We have to talk to our partners about whether we can play PlayStation (laughs). We're still human, right? Let's see if we can play for an hour before dinner.

Alex Marquez: “Around 20 or 21 p.m., something like that… We’ll try it, we’ll talk about it a little. Then we’ll eat pizza and go to sleep. And tomorrow we’ll travel to Madrid to prepare for Misano.”

Enea Bastianini: “Pizza is best eaten in Misano.”

Alex Marquez: "No, because I like it with pineapple (laughs). I think that in Misano, I won't be able to..."

Enea Bastianini: “ I don't think so. But if it's my restaurant, why not?

Marc Marquez: "Alex said it, same strategy. I mean, we're fighting for our goals and there are seven races left."
