La Dorna has officially published the figures for falls recorded this season, all categories combined.

All three categories combined, 2018 recorded fewer falls than last year (1077 compared to 1126), but this season nevertheless takes second place in the ranking for twelve years.

Le MotoGP is the category with the fewest falls in 2018, 303, ten fewer than last year. As expected, it is Marc Marquez who fell the most (23, but four less than last year) ahead of Alvaro Bautista (21) Xavier Simeon (18) as well as Cal Crutchlow et Jack Miller who finished tied (17).

In contrast, the Moto2 is the category where drivers fell the most (418). Not surprisingly, it is Stefano Manzi who comes first with 31 falls. He equals the record of Sam Lowes last year, and the two men are therefore tied for the record for falls in a season. The Briton is second in the ranking with 27 falls. It precedes Jorge Navarro (24) Alex Marquez (19) et Iker Lecuona (18)

En Moto3 (356 falls), first place is more surprising since it is held by Marco Bezzecchi. Without this really being highlighted, the third in the Championship has nevertheless fallen 24 times this season. It therefore precedes gabriel rodrigo (22) Tatsuki Suzuki (21) et Albert Arenas (16). The top 5 is closed by a tie between Nicolò Antonelli, John Mcphee et Adam Norrodin (15)

All categories combined, it is therefore Stefano manzi (Moto2, 31 falls) who fell the most in front Sam Lowes (Moto2, 27 falls), Marco Bezzecchi (Moto3, 24 falls), Jorge Navarro (Moto2, 24 falls) and Marc Marquez (MotoGP, 23 falls).

The last Grand Prix of the season recorded the highest number of crashes of the year, by far! Indeed, the Valencia circuit is ahead, with 155 crashes, of Le Mans and its 109 crashes. The fault lies in the capricious and very complicated weather conditions which prevailed throughout the weekend. In the Sunday races alone, 43 falls were recorded. Note that this Grand Prix broke the record for falls since 1997, the year Dorna began reporting the figures. The old record was 140 crashes at the Misano circuit last year.
