Barely had the press echoed the great threat hanging over Yamaha and its riders that the FIM reacted by publishing the following press release (Paddock-GP translation).

It appears that only the Iwata firm is sanctioned in the manufacturers' rankings, just like the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and Petronas Yamaha SRT teams in the teams' rankings, but not the drivers, which seems quite logical, the latter not 'not being responsible for the engines supplied to them.

The World Manufacturers' Championship is therefore now led by Ducati with 171 points ahead of Suzuki with 163 points, Yamaha with 158 points, KTM with 143 points, Honda with 117 points and Aprilia with 36 points.

Notifications of sanctions from commissioners FIM MotoGP™ against Yamaha Motor Company, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, Petronas Yamaha SRT

Thursday, November 05, 2020

Please find attached the sanctions imposed on Yamaha Motor Company, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and Petronas Yamaha SRT.

Due to internal control, Yamaha Motor Company failed to follow protocol that requires them to obtain unanimous approval from the MSMA for technical changes.

For this reason, Yamaha Motor Company was stripped of 50 points from the World Manufacturers' Championship. That's double the points earned for not following the required protocol for technical changes.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP saw 20 points withdrawn in the World Team Championship. These are points earned by not following protocol.

Petronas Yamaha SRT lost 37 points in the World Team Championship. These are also points earned by not following protocol.
