Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez, in his first season with Ducati, continues to learn and explore every detail of the Desmosedici. Among the many challenges he faces, one persistent problem seems to come back to haunt him race after race: the brakes. Since the first races of the season, this braking issue has proven to be a major obstacle for the number 93, especially on stop-and-go circuits, where sudden and close braking is essential.

When for his Japanese Grand Prix, this problem has resurfaced, and the Spanish driver has spoken frankly about it, suggesting that Brembo may well be working on a suitable solution.

Marquez did not hesitate to highlight the impact that this problem had on his race in Motegi. In the first group laps the brake problem reappeared, making what was going to happen unpredictable, " he said, frustrated by this limitation that prevented him from fully exploiting the potential of the Ducati. Despite a fast start and a series of overtaking moves, he quickly lost places in the first few corners due to overheated brakes. A driver overtook me because I couldn't brake where I wanted to, " he added.

This problem of overheating of the brakes, particularly in areas of intense braking and when riding in a group, is not new for Marc Marquez this season. At Austin, another demanding circuit in terms of braking, he even crashed due to brake failure while leading the race.

Brembo reportedly developing custom braking system for Marc Marquez

Similar incidents have occurred on circuits such as the Red Bull Ring and so, recently, to Motegi. When riding behind other motorcycles, with the hot, "dirty" air disrupting cooling, the brakes of the Ducati cannot recover sufficiently before the next turn, forcing Marquez to adapt his aggressive braking style.

Rumors relayed by motor passion suggest that Brembo, supplier of Ducati, has taken on this challenge and could be developing a tailor-made braking system for Marquez. The goal? To offer the Spaniard the possibility of using the brakes more intensely and reliably, while respecting the regulations in force. With Brembo's recent acquisition of Öhlins, it is likely that new synergies will emerge to provide solutions to the braking problems of Marquez.

The question remains whether these improvements will be available for Marc Marquez from next season, allowing him to maximize his performance on a Ducati tailor-madeOne thing is certain: if a solution comes, it could well make the difference in the Spaniard's quest to stay at the top with his new team.
