The Suzuki team manager spoke to crash.net about the progress made by his team but also about his driver Álex Rins.

Suzuki ends the year with nine podiums to its name. Even though Andrea Iannone and Álex Rins failed to win a race, this season can be considered the Japanese manufacturer's best since its return to MotoGP. Davide Brivio, the team's team manager, is very satisfied: “We are quite happy because this comes after a difficult 2017 season during which we struggled. We realized why (because of the engine) and made the necessary modifications. To have been able to do it is good. That's what we have to do, try and stay in the top six places and then aim for a podium when an opportunity presents itself. This is exactly what is happening now. From this point of view we are achieving our objective. »

For him, it is not possible to compare 2016 and 2018 : “Compared to 2016, we are missing victory! But these are two different stories. 2016 was only our second year in MotoGP. We had Maverick, who is considered one of the best talents of his generation. We were able to win once. But here we came from a difficult 2017 season and it left its mark. We also have to take into account the fact that Álex missed half of last season. His experience as a rookie was even more difficult. But now we are happy because he is progressing race after race, learning and growing. He is fast. »

And in fact, he believes a lot in his foal that he sees go very far : " He has talent. Sometimes he does incredible things and it seems simple to him. Well, not simple, let's say natural. Sometimes he does a good lap time or finishes in a good position in the race and it's as if he didn't have to make a big effort. We have to work on this and use his talent to achieve the goal of being consistent all season. We need to work more during practice to qualify better and be more at the front in the race. There are lots of little things that can help him become a better driver. »
