The Aprilia rider performed very well in qualifying after positive free practice. He obviously expects a lot from tomorrow's race to confirm his potential.

Aleix Espargaró seems to have found some rhythm, in addition to a smile, at the end of this second day of testing on the Brno circuit, which went even better than yesterday. Arriving on the Czech track with two blank results on the clock, the Spanish driver did not hide his dissatisfaction, but he and his team worked a lot and changed their settings and the work has paid off for the moment.

Eleventh in FP1 on Friday morning, he progressed to seventh position in FP2 and confirmed in FP3 with the sixth time, thus ensuring automatic qualification in Q2. Author of two excellent laps, he finally qualified in fourth place and signed his best qualification with Aprilia since Japan in 2017!

“More than my position itself, I am happy with my feeling with the bike ", did he declare. “We changed the settings quite a bit and I started to have the same good feeling again as at the start of the season. I didn't expect it, honestly, since here in Brno we have always struggled. Starting from the second row will undoubtedly be an additional help but above all I am happy with our race pace and the step forward we have taken. »

“Now we must confirm our potential in the race, this will be the real proof of our progress. I expect a very difficult race for everyone. Tire wear will be key, especially from mid-race onwards. »
