The Suzuki rider will start from the end of the third row tomorrow and hopes to gain places to end his weekend as positively as he started it.

After a disappointing first race at Jerez where he made a mistake on the second lap, Joan mir was able to raise the bar the following week to achieve a top 5, which confirmed the good work done in free practice. If qualifying had always been a little more difficult with two tenth places, the Spaniard had nevertheless always been in Q2.

Mir took another step forward this weekend, in Brno, constantly racing at the front, and even taking second place in FP1. In the top 7 in each session, he could hope to have a good qualification but he did not manage to achieve the perfect lap. If he achieved his best qualification of the season, he will only start ninth on the grid, two places ahead of his teammate Álex Rins, who is still injured.

Aware of his difficulties in qualifying, the Suzuki driver is nevertheless satisfied with his day and confident for tomorrow. Like the other drivers, he knows that tire wear risks playing havoc from halfway through the race and will do everything to avoid it.

“I feel good today because we have made good progress in terms of our race pace, and my settings are good”, he explained. “I know that qualifying is not really our strong point at the moment but I think that starting ninth I can manage to have a good race. It will be tough tomorrow, consistency and tire preservation will be the key. I will try to get a good start and gain places. »
