• Winning return for Michelin Motorsport and the FIM World Championship MotoGP on the Brno circuit (Czech Republic), which welcomed nearly 220 spectators this weekend.
• The progress made by motorcycles, tires and teams has made it possible, on a completely resurfaced asphalt, to set new records.
• This 12th round of the season was dominated by Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), who won the Sprint race and the Grand Prix with MICHELIN Power Slick ranges that performed consistently over time.

The return of the Brno circuit to the MotoGP calendar was eagerly awaited by all. The spectators, who turned out in force even on Friday despite the unpredictable weather, the competitors, and of course the Michelin Motorsport teams, who had prepared for this event as if it were a "first time." Not only had the circuit disappeared from the calendar since 2020, but with its surface completely replaced, it was necessary to start almost from scratch to build the weekend's tire lineup.

“Coming back to Brno was a bit like preparing for a new circuit” indicated Piero Taramassomanager of Michelin Motorsport's two-wheel competition. « Five years of development in MotoGP, for the bikes, their aerodynamics and their tires, is enormous. Then, the fact that the track was completely resurfaced at the same time rendered all the technical data we had on this circuit obsolete. Therefore, we prepared our tire package based on the knowledge we had of the track, but also on the testimony of the two teams that had tested there. We were also counting on Friday to try all possible tire combinations, but the weather complicated our roadmap. Nevertheless, everything went well and we quickly realized that this weekend would be dedicated to performance. As soon as the ground cleared, we were treated to the spectacle we were waiting for, and the lap times went crazy. This weekend back on the Brno circuit was an opportunity to demonstrate the impressive performance of our tires in all conditions. All the records, dating back to 2020 and even before, have been largely broken, but that's not the most important thing. I prefer to remember the level of spectacle offered and the technical relevance of our tires. When Marc Márquez sets the fastest lap in the race at 15rd lap (out of 21), this means not only that our tires allow you to go very fast, but also that the consistency of their performance and their durability are exceptional. It is worth noting that Michelin Motorsport returned to the Czech Republic this weekend with a win in the FIM MotoGP World Championship.

At 5,403 kilometers long and made up of 14 turns (6 left and 8 right), the Brno circuit is distinguished by its particularly rugged topography. With a 73-meter drop between its highest and lowest points, it is the most rugged track in the championship. Between its five straights, its climbs, descents, and demanding bends, drivers must tame a veritable twist and turn that puts both men and machines to the test.

The new chronometric references

The five years spent without coming to Brno have allowed us to see the progress of the bikes, tires and teams in an environment that is not new, but on a newly resurfaced asphalt that is conducive to performance.

While the track was partly wet for Friday's practice, Marc Márquez had already come within 1 hundredth of a second of the track record (54.596'2016, which he had held since 1 on a Ducati). When the asphalt dried and heated up on Saturday morning, the lap times went wild. The fastest time of the weekend, which becomes the new absolute record for the circuit, was set by Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) in the second phase of qualifying in 1'52.303, an improvement of more than two seconds compared to the previous record.

Logically, the race lap record was also significantly improved. Daniel Pedrosa's reference time (1:56.027) dates back to 2014. During the 2025 Grand Prix, Marc Márquez completed a lap in 1:53.691, a time that became the new record to beat.

The duration of the Grand Prix has also been improved, going from 41.07:728 (the record dating from 2018) to 40:04.628.

Andrea Dovizioso's top speed (316,7 km/h) in 2020 was largely beaten in the first test session. Pedro Acosta was clocked at 322,3 km/h on Friday morning. Then the next day, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) hammered home the point with a speed of 325,3 km/h during the Tissot Sprint.

For the Tissot Grand Prix of Csechia, Michelin provided its partners with three choices of symmetrical rubber (Soft, Medium, Hard) for the front wheel, and three asymmetrical compounds rather than the usual two (Soft, Medium, Hard) for the rear wheel.

The right side of the tread had been reinforced to accommodate the increased number of turns on that side. For wet conditions, riders were able to use the MICHELIN Power Rain range in Soft and Medium compounds for both the front and rear, with the same profile as the MICHELIN Power Slick range.

The weekend results

On Saturday afternoon, the first Tissot Sprint in the history of the Brno circuit was won by Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Team) and Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3). All three riders opted for the same tire combination: a MICHELIN Power Slick Medium at the front and rear.

On Sunday, victory in the 2025 Tissot Grand Prix of Czechia also went to Marc Márquez, this time ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing). Third place on the podium was occupied by Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Team). For this 21-lap race, the tire choice was also the same for all three podium finishers: a MICHELIN Power Slick Medium at the front and rear.
