Cal Crutchlow

In a context where Yamaha is seeking to revitalize its competitiveness in MotoGP, the brand benefits from a significant advantage thanks to the new concession rules which allow it to exploit six wild cards during the season. This opportunity is a godsend to test improvements in racing conditions, and Cal Crutchlow will therefore be sent to the front lines to lead this mission.

Although Cal Crutchlow is not programmed to run at Jerez this weekend, unlike other test drivers like Dani Pedrosa for KTM Stefan bradl for Honda, Michele Pirro for Ducati, Lorenzo Savadori for Aprilia, Yamaha revealed his plans for the Englishman. The team confirmed that Crutchlow will participate as a wild card in three events: the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello at the end of May, British Grand Prix at Silverstone at the beginning of August, and the San Marino Grand Prix in Misano at the beginning of September.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Crutchlow said : " It’s a big motivation for me to have these three opportunities this season. We are in a transition phase where we are trying multiple adjustments to improve the M1 for the regular drivers, Fabio and Alex. The races where I participate as a wild card will be crucial for collecting data which will help our engineers in Japan and Europe to refine the settings »

Cal Crutchlow: “ I'm particularly looking forward to racing at Silverstone, in front of my home crowd »

He added : " testing in a Grand Prix situation will allow us to test setups that factory riders may not have the opportunity to try, or simply to collect more general information »

Particularly excited about running in MotoGP at his home, Crutchlow highlighted : " I'm particularly looking forward to racing at Silverstone, in front of my home crowd. It's always special to see a British rider in MotoGP action at home »

This initiative of Yamaha , integrating Cal Crutchlow in its racing program, is a signal of the importance that the brand places on the continued development of its machine, hoping to reconnect with past successes in a category where competition continues to intensify.
