Cal Crutchlow finished just off the podium in the first Grand Prix of the MotoGP season at Qatar at the end of a race where eight drivers had their chance to win. A tightening of values and a constant battle which benefited the intensity of the show. For the LCR driver, it is the result of years of regulatory development made by Dorna and his boss Carmelo Ezpeleta. And the Englishman wanted to emphasize this.
We expected a competitive Qatar Grand Prix and we were not disappointed. With, as a highlight, a thrilling finale in the last bend and the final straight line deciding between the duellists Dovizoso et Márquez for 27 thousandths… All under the eager eyes of the opponents glued to less than a second!
An unfolding that Cal Crutchlow thus illustrated on Motorsport : " I was in the middle of the lead pack and I said to myself that it must be a good show to watch. It was a great start to the championship. For many teams and so many drivers. Just like for the fans. We must thank the whole of MotoGP and its rules because they allow for close competitions. ».
« There are many builders and none is dominant. And we owe that to Carmelo Ezpeleta and the way the regulations were developed. We know that we have become the greatest spectacle in motorsport. The same goes for Moto3 and Moto2. Even if it was less intense for this last category, there was a great battle ».
Can’t wait for Argentina in three weeks to relive it all!
