Finland

Finland coming out of a 2021 MotoGP calendar is a reliable cursor on the evolution of the global health crisis and it is clear that 2021 will only be barely better than 2020 in this area. Certainly, the season started on the right date, with a double dose in Qatar, a plan B which will also be applied this summer since Finland is leaving the program. But Styria is there…

La Finland will therefore wait again before experiencing its first Grand Prix of the millennium on its brand new track of the Kymiring. Due to the pandemic, this is not yet the kind of event that is desired in the country. Fortunately, theAustria is there and will therefore offer two Grand Prix MotoGP, like in 2020.

In August we will therefore be entitled to a new Styrian Grand Prix in addition to that of Austria on the Red Bull Ring. And after ? This is the unknown since we are talking about Grands Prix overseas. Given the context, the project is rather at risk and all the more so since theAustralia has just announced that its borders will remain closed until the end of this year…

Communiqué :

The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports announce the cancellation of the 2021 Finnish Grand Prix. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the resulting travel complications in Finland, have forced the cancellation of the event.

However, Dorna Sports are pleased to announce the extension of the agreement with the Finnish Grand Prix for another five years, securing the superb new KymiRing a place on the calendar until 2026 at least.

Additionally, the FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports are delighted to announce that the Michelin Styrian Grand Prix will be added to the 2021 calendar. The event will take place at the Red Bull Ring from August 6 to 8t, the weekend before the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Styrian Grand Prix was celebrated for the first time in 2020, with a historic top-class race that cemented its place in the history books alongside the Austrian Grand Prix.

More good news for fans, in agreement with local authorities and while respecting all required health protocols, the Styrian and Austrian Grands Prix plan to welcome again a limited number of spectators this season to enjoy the best of MotoGP on one of the most beautiful circuits in the world: the Red Bull Ring.
