Carlos Checa has found someone to take care of since he laid down his leather. Always in the good books of the Nolan brand, he remains in contact with the elite and the Grands Prix, which allows him to have an informed opinion: “ I followed the 2017 season and what happened in particular with Dovizioso is not a miracle. The miracle does not exist at this level. Dovi fully deserves what is happening to him, it is proof that work pays off. He showed everyone the meaning of effort. And finishing second in the championship behind a driver like Márquez is also something of a victory ».
Car Marc Márquez is indeed the phenomenon of the moment: “ only an exceptional driver like Márquez could deprive Dovi of the title. This is the fastest ever seen in the category. He is a complete champion with an extraordinary mind and impressive determination. It’s this state of mind that amazes me the most. If he continues at this level, then it will be very hard for others to win titles ».
And the others, he cites them… “ I expected much better from Lorenzo and he can only improve in 2018. I would have thought that Viñales would be there until the end of the season, but that was not the case. Zarco will be one to watch in the future and I'm confident he can challenge for the title in 2018. His Yamaha isn't really any different from the official machines. As for Valentino Rossi, he will continue as long as he is competitive. He still wants a title and if he manages well from the start of the season, he will be there ».
More Carlos Checa already admits his prognosis: “ I don't expect an upheaval. The motorcycles will remain practically the same. There will be no big changes in the teams. I expect a championship like the previous one which will be played between Dovizioso and Márquez ».
