Carmelo Ezpeleta never stops...

Carmelo Ezpeleta continues tirelessly to defend and represent the interests of the Grand Prix paddock, and it is a mission that never ends in this period of health crisis. Thus, and contrary to what we hoped, the arrival of vaccines and the application of barrier gestures have only barely balanced the game in this fight against Covid-19 which is defending itself with variants. For the organizer of a World Championship, it's a nightmare, but the boss of Dorna is not giving up on the field. He was recently in Qatar for a diplomatic visit...

The coronavirus pandemic is still affecting the lives of all of us and Dorna is working hard to ensure the season starts at the Losail circuit, Qatar, as promised in the official 2021 calendar. The country has become a real collection base since the latest developments in the pandemic which closed access to Malaysia while pushing back the United States and l'Argentina to the Greek calendars. Thus, the two pre-season tests will also be held in Qatar, for a total of six days, which, combined with the first two Grands Prix, would foresee that the MotoGP teams and riders will remain in the country for a month.

To give a positive signal that everything will go as planned, this is the official channel of the MotoGP who shared a photo on Twitter with the caption reading: “ we are working to ensure a safe and secure start to 2021. Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta met with Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani, the Prime Minister of Qatar, ahead of the upcoming Qatar Test and season opener ».

Carmelo Ezpeleta still holds the bar and the course

Even if it is the coronavirus which will still dictate its law, this is indeed the approach that must be taken and the policy to be followed on the part of an involved developer. That being said, the experience acquired in 2020 makes it possible to envisage a campaign whatever happens, and particularly in the area of the significant restrictions that the various governments will decide to impose. The extra-European stages seem to be the most at risk, and so far, and it cannot be ruled out that the MotoGP championship will take place entirely on the old continent in 2021 as well.

It will be recalled that after the Qatar, it’s the Grand Prix of Portugal, scheduled for today April 18, which will follow, an appointment inserted in the calendar in place of that ofAustin.
