Valentino Rossi

Since Valentino Rossi is retired, there seems to be an effort to reopen the cases in MotoGP. Versions of certain past events are taken up and embellished with confidences and other little stories which, ultimately, made it big. It's as if the obligation of secrecy has just been lifted since the Doctor hung up his helmet. This flow of information comes from a broadcast on DAZN where Vale's opponents open up about their experience of their rivalry with the nine-time title winner. Jorge Lorenzo thus gave his version of the 2015 season. Here is the case of Casey Stoner who, although reconciled with the Grand Prix legend, remains outspoken…

Valentino Rossi classified Casey Stoner among its toughest rivals. And he has indeed seen some beauty on the track. So the Doctor used all the tricks of the trade to fight him, and he was strong at this game which the Australian refuted and, therefore, suffered. A weariness was born which ended up wearing him down enough to move on to something else. Casey Stoner also began to suffer from a health problem putting him in a state of chronic fatigue. A syndrome of which he is still a victim.

But it was in full possession of his means and with a clear mind that he recalled his period as a direct rival of Valentino Rossi. An evaluation that starts strong: “ he was the greatest driver of his time, especially in the early 2000s. He was able to do things that others couldn't do. He was in another category ". This compliment comes with a sharper sequel: “ but then me, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa arrived and he was in no way superior to us ».

Casey Stoner: “ I liked seeing Valentino Rossi suffer at Ducati«

Casey Stoner also tells that to challenge Red was not limited to crossing swords on the track: “ When you try to play these mind games with people they don't work with, you only make enemies. He made sure that I was seen as his enemy and he did the same thing with Marc Marquez. From that moment on, I no longer wanted to be his friend, I no longer wanted to play fair. At a certain point, I no longer wanted anything to do with him ».

And this resentment is illustrated as follows: “ in 2011 the Honda was sensational and I liked seeing Valentino suffer at Ducati because he spoke so badly about me, especially hurting the team. He said he would change it for the better when in reality the bike was getting worse ". The conclusion on MowMag is also quite cold and it should be compared to the introduction since it talks about the level of Valentino Rossi : " he was good at close combat and stealing the spotlight from others. His limitation is that he has never done a fast ride under his own power. When he won the world championships, he dominated them, and it's no coincidence that he lost twice out of two in the last race ».

Casey Stoner certainly does not debunk the legend and does not wish to degrade a renewed relationship. However, his champion's opinion based on strong experience provides insight that will not fail to fuel conversations.
