Alberto Puig was a happy man leaving the Barcelona track. The Catalan Grand Prix was certainly marked by an incident caused by its driver Jorge Lorenzo, but his thoroughbred, Marc Marquez, took victory and widened the gap in the championship. According to the HRC team manager, the outcome of the race on the Montmeló track would have been the same anyway, even with Dovizioso, Rossi and Viñales competing...

An opinion that can be defended, but Alberto puig is a man of conviction. For him, this fourth victory of Marc Márquez which adds to the two second places in seven Grands Prix, was filmed from the start. The blunder of Jorge Lorenzo only hastened the deadline: “ the strategy was to try to get a good pace, keep going and see how the tire performance affected the lap time. Márquez took the right tires and I think his race would have been a success with or without the incident ».

On the case Jorge Lorenzo, who will not have to suffer any sanction for his Catalan feat of arms, Alberto Puig comments: “ It's a shame because it was perhaps the first time all year that we saw Jorge riding fast. But unfortunately he made a mistake. Turn 10 is really tight and it's very difficult to get into the first few laps with everyone. He couldn't avoid contact and it's a shame. We are sorry for him, but of course also for Rossi, Dovizioso and Viñales. Sorry for them and their teams. It's racing and these situations can happen. This has happened to us in the past. Nobody likes to mess up ».

He finishes : " Jorge quickly apologized when the television interviewed him in the garage during the race. He felt sorry for his colleagues and, after the race, went to Yamaha and Ducati to express his sadness and apologize personally ».

Next meeting at the end of the month in Assen…
