This morning, Aleix Espargaró, Johann zarco, Jorge Martín, Francis Bagnaia, Jack Miller, fabio quartararo, Luca marini, Pol Espargaro, Alex Rins et Fabio DiGiannantonio avoided going to Q1 to go directly to Q2.
They have just been joined by Maverick Vinales et Takaaki Nakagami drafted in qualification 1 by thousandths of a second, and these 12 riders now have 15 minutes to determine their place on the first four rows of the starting grid for the MotoGP Grand Prix of Catalonia.
The weather is nice, it's hot (track at 58°!), the pressure is intense and the sweat will flow under the helmets... Let's GO!

When the red lights go out... Takaaki Nakagami sets off first, still hot from his repechage in Q1. Maverick Vinales does the same immediately while the other drivers take their time.

In terms of tires, all the drivers use the medium at the front, the soft at the rear.
The first reference is entered by Takaaki Nakagami in 1'39.785, immediately surpassed by Maverick Vinales in 1'39 but ultimately it's fabio quartararo who achieved provisional pole position at the end of the first flying lap, in 1'39.055.

On the next pass, and probably the last of the first run since the soft tires can hardly do more than two laps effectively, The Devil maintains the advantage, 10 thousandths ahead Francis Bagnaia and 12 ahead Aleix Espargaró !
Indeed, all the drivers return to their box and have a new rear tire counted for the second attempt...
The hierarchy is then composed of Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia, Aleix Espargaró, Jorge Martín, Álex Rins, Johann Zarco, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Maverick Vinales, Luca Marini, Jack Miller, Takaaki Nakagami and Pol Espargaró.
On resumption, Francis Bagnaia takes command in 1'38.787.
Aleix Espargaró then lets the V4 made in Noale speak and sets a time of 1'38.742.

At the last minute, Francis Bagnaia tries to respond but fails at 31/1000.
