Aprilia was demonstrated during the second free practice session of the Catalan Grand Prix, the ninth stage of MotoGP 2022 scheduled for Sunday at the Montmelò circuit, near Barcelona. Aleix Espargarò riding the Venetian RS-GP set the best time with a lap of 1'39.402, ahead of teammate and compatriot Maverick Vinales by 0.303s, also fast on the flying lap.

The two pilots Aprilia ahead of the DucatiEnea Bastianini (Gresini Racing), Pecco Bagnaia of the official team and winner of the last race at Mugello, and Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing), respectively at 0.488s, 0.548s and 0.587s.

Brad Binder takes the KTM to sixth position, ahead of the Ducati of what could be his next teammate with the Austrian bike, the Australian Jack Miller. The Top Ten closes and the reigning champion's Yamahas Fabio Quartararo, freshly renewed with the brand until 2024, the Suzuki of Alex Rins and the second Yamaha Factory of Franco Morbidelli resurrected and is therefore temporarily in Q2.

The best rookie is Fabio DiGiannantonio, who, on the Ducati Gresini, is 13th in front of the other rookie Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati Mooney VR46 Racing Team) and Luca marini (Ducati Mooney VR46 Racing Team). Andrea Dovizioso was unable to “get away” from behind and finished 21st at 1.541s, just ahead of the Ducati tester Michele Pirro, on the track as well as at Mugello in the Aruba colors of WSBK.

In Catalonia good news arrived from Marc Marquez

The best rookie MotoGP has been Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati Gresini) 13th, followed by Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) 14th, Darryn Binder (Yamaha WithU RNF) 20rd, Raul Fernandez (Team Tech 3) 24nd, Remy gardner (Team Tech3) 25th. We will recall that during this first day in Catalonia, Marc Marquez was operated on in the United States for the fourth time on the humerus of his right arm and now a long rehabilitation awaits him.
