Since 2017, it has been tradition that whoever wins the Italian Grand Prix on a Ducati triumphs two weeks later at the end of the meeting that MotoGP has with Catalonia. A mission which therefore falls this year to Danilo Petrucci. But by starting seventh, the latter made his task more complicated…

The Ducati factory rider, Danilo Petrucci, strangely fell in Q2, which disrupted a performance that ended in the 7th time. The 28-year-old Ducati official, who has never been so close to his contract renewal with the reds, misses pole by 0,360 seconds, and follows his teammate by only 0,067 seconds Andrea Dovizioso, second in the provisional championship ranking.

« My FP4 wasn't that bad, even though I was only 15th. In Q2 I found more speed. Although I can't be happy with seventh place, we have to take into account that our weekend started here in a really problematic way. The crash was weird because I was on a lap coming into the pits... We don't understand how this crash happened. We have little grip, that's a fact, because the lap times are two seconds slower than last year. Strange, because on all the other tracks, we set records everywhere this year »Comments petrux

« It's difficult to get the tires to work here. The goal was as usual the first or second row, and I missed that goal. After the accident I had to take the replacement machine, it had a medium front tire. I didn't like it, so I couldn't improve the weather. However, I think we can make the top five tomorrow. But I want more. I want to fight for a podium. It won't be easy. I expect surprises, because it will depend on who manages the tires best for 24 laps ».
