This Friday, the Catalan Grand Prix opens hostilities for the seventh meeting of a season which includes nineteen meetings. What do the statistics produced over the years by the Montmélo route tell us?

This is the 28th consecutive year that the 4,7 km “Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya” has hosted a motorcycle world championship race. The first Grand Prix in Barcelona took place in 1992. Here are some facts and statistics about previous Grand Prix events in Montmeló.

Yamaha is the most successful manufacturer in Catalonia since the Iwata manufacturer's riders have won 12 victories to date: Valentino Rossi (2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2016) and Jorge Lorenzo (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015), as well as three in the 500 class with Wayne Rainey (1992, 1993) and Luca Cadalora (1994)

Honda has achieved ten victories: Alex Criville, Carlos Checa et Mick doohan (from 1995 to 1999), followed by Valentino Rossi (2001, 2002), Dani Pedrosa (2008) Casey Stoner (2011) et Marc Márquez (2014)

Valentino Rossi is Barcelona's most successful Grand Prix rider with his ten achievements (1 x 125cc, 2 x 250cc, 1 x 500cc, 6 x MotoGP). The second most successful driver is Jorge Lorenzo (1 x 250cc, 4 x MotoGP).

The nine Moto2 races contested so far on the Barcelona – Catalunya circuit have been won by eight different riders: Yuki Takahashi, Stefan Bradl, Andrea Iannone, Pol Espargaro, Tito Rabat, Johann zarco (2x) Alex Marquez et Fabio Quartararo.

Maverick Vinales, Luis Salom, Alex Marquez, Danny Kent, Jorge Navarro, Joan Mir et Enea Bastianini have triumphed in the last seven Catalan races contested in Moto3.
