With a Fabio Quartararo who demands more power on his Yamaha with its proverbial maneuverability and a Pecco Bagnaia on the handlebars of a Ducati who fell into the cauldron of power from birth and who would like more maneuverability, we realize that the work of the engineers in MotoGP is definitely not simple. To decide, we must refer to the result and thus note that after eight games, it is indeed the Frenchman with the frail Yamaha who is leading the debates. Criticized for their technical pusillanimity, are Iwata's engineers finally right? Unless the worst bike on the field is in the hands of the best rider? In any case, this situation concerns Bagnaia…

fabio quartararo has gained a psychological advantage over his opponents in MotoGP after two Grands Prix. They expected him to take a knee, but instead he brought them to heel with a Yamaha that we did not expect such a celebration. Its deficit in top speed and its lack of power are in fact criticized and moreover the Frenchman no longer wants to suffer from it on the 2023 version of the M1 to come. But it is indeed he who is at the head of the title race before joining the Sachsenring and its German Grand Prix.

Pecco Bagnaia suffered another retirement at the last Catalan Grand Prix, and now finds himself 66 points behind Fabio Quartararo. The latter collected 45 points out of the 50 available during the last two meetings of the season. The Italian therefore wonders after the day of testing completed in Barcelona: “ Everything we've tried has brought something good, there's potential: it's definitely positive. The track had a lot more rubber put on in recent days, the grip was higher, so you have to be careful in the evaluations. The new fairing allows not lose too much maneuverability, while gaining a little speed : this can be useful for tours like Austria ».

Pecco Bagnaia Ducati: “I prefer less top speed and better handling"

Then he adds: “ but it's not the final version yet, I don't know if it will arrive this season. On a track like this in Montmelò I always prefer the one I use, because it makes the bike more manageable. I think this is the most important aspect, more than power because at the head of the world championship there is a rider with a bike that has little speed in a straight line… ". A remark that he develops: “ the new fairing can help us not lose too much in terms of handling and offers more top speed. I prefer less top speed and better handling this year. This is the main thing now, Yamaha is the perfect example ».

Pecco Bagnaia ends on the duet Quartararo-Yamaha : " at the moment they have better handling. We see very clearly that top speed is not everything. We have improved this area with the new fairing this year. But we need even more agility. We are working on it ". The technical truth is definitely not written in MotoGP where, ultimately, the osmosis between the rider and his machine is the only value that makes the difference. And that's also why fabio quartararo signed again for Yamaha .
