The current situation is increasingly complicated, and it is difficult to grasp its nature and duration. The dates of the Grands Prix are postponed one after the other, without new dates being able to be announced with certainty.

So everyone is going around in circles asking questions, without knowing what the future will hold. Under these conditions, Dorna has just published an official press release to clarify its point of view and ensure its leadership role in this very difficult World Championship.

Here is the press release in full:

“Dorna Sports wanted to reaffirm its commitment for 2020, that of competing in as many races as possible. »

“The current coronavirus pandemic has already led to a number of changes to the 2020 MotoGP™ calendar, both postponements and rescheduling. Given the continuing uncertainties, Dorna Sports would however like to reaffirm that racing remains a top priority for 2020."

“Dorna Sports also remains in permanent contact with the FIM, IRTA, MSMA and the promoters of each Grand Prix, while closely monitoring developments in the situation. All having a common objective: that the competition resumes as soon as conditions allow. »

“Our goal has always been and will remain to organize as many rounds as possible during this calendar year. However, we will always act in accordance with the health and safety instructions issued by the various governments and other competent health authorities. »

“If this pandemic continues to paralyze our lives for a wider period and travel restrictions remain, it is only as a last resort that Dorna Sports will consider discussing – with the FIM, IRTA and MSMA – the cancellation of this 2020 season.”

“Our number one objective for WorldSBK is the same: to compete in as many events as possible as soon as possible. »

“Everyone's priority is to race, in complete safety, and to offer our fans what they love most: motorcycle racing! »
