It was on the occasion of Honda Thanks Day at the Motegi Circuit that the decoration of the RC213V with which Takaaki Nakagami will compete in the 2018 MotoGP season within Lucio Cecchinello's team was presented.
The colors are close to those of his Kalex which he used in Moto2 with Idemitsu Honda Team Asia. The main sponsor remains the same, hence the identical basic colors, with just a few modifications to the design, such as on the front mudguard or the top of the fairing sides.
Victorious last year in the British Grand Prix, and on the podium in Qatar, Texas and Assen, Nakagami finished the World Championship in seventh position. Next year he will meet the first two of the 2 Moto2017 world championship, in this case Franco Morbidelli and Tom Lüthi, also on Honda. While they will ride at Marc VDS, Nakagami will team up with Cal Crutchlow at LCR, with adequate support from Honda.
During the Jerez test, Takaaki set the thirteenth fastest time, 1.3 behind Andrea Dovizioso, which was decent, but he was only 0.1 behind top rookie Morbidelli, which boded well for 2018.
