Dani Pedrosa

Dani Pedrosa is preparing to make his return to the Grand Prix. Or at least, a wildcard was taken for him by KTM which can therefore line him up at the start of the school year in Austria and in Misano. But the Spaniard may change his mind. What he already did at a key moment in his career by declining a Petronas offer to climb on a good Yamaha. An episode that he seems to regret today, even if he doesn't say it exactly like that...

Dani Pedrosa gradually coming out of the shadows to put himself back in the spotlight. Certainly, he is never forgotten by KTM who never misses an opportunity to praise his work as a test pilot. Moreover, since he took care of it, the RC16 has continued to progress. But this time, he seems determined to get back to the front line by participating in a Grand Prix again. An idea that he had until then systematically dismissed, despite the gentle eyes of his Austrian employer.

The place is reserved for him in Austria and Misano and he will honor the Styrian Grand Prix with his presence. But the Spaniard knows how to change his mind. Even if he regrets it afterwards. This is apparently the case at the moment when a question is gnawing at him: what would he have done on a Yamaha  ? In comments relayed by motograndprix.it, he says : " Would the MotoGP title have changed my career? This question often haunts me but Have all the great scientists in history won a Nobel Prize? In 18 years of MotoGP, I have achieved an exceptional record. The results put me among the best in this sport but the MotoGP title is the only thing I missed ».

Dani Pedrosa only has himself to blame

Looking back on his career, the Spaniard finally admits to having only one regret: not having raced with Yamaha : " When I think back to 'Fantastic 4', me, Casey Stoner, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, I always wonder how different my career would have been if I had ridden for Yamaha at least once ».

An interesting question, but Pedrosa forgot to say that he had the opportunity to ride a Yamaha. Ramón Forcada, chief mechanic of Morbidelli at Petronas recalls: “ with Dani Pedrosa we had practically closed the agreements and we were in line on everything, but the pilot had asked to be able to evaluate again if he wanted to continue his career or if, on the contrary, the time had not come to stop with races. Then he decided to stop and that's when Fabio Quartararo arrived ».

And we know what happens next for the Frenchman and MotoGP! Dani Pedrosa, for the Yamaha experience, can therefore only blame itself... There still remains a fine track record: 2 world titles in 250 and one in 125, 153 podiums, 54 victories and 49 pole positions. But there is this zero that weighs: the MotoGP world championship.
