Johann zarco

Our partner David Dumain, distinguished journalist, former voice of MotoGP on Canal+, and also author, pilot, as well as involved in the English-speaking but very French adventure Brough Superior, has drawn up his inventory of a 2022 season which has not been stingy with twists and turns. Here are his red cards and his good points, positions that will inevitably get people talking…

David Dumain is a must in the French motorcycle landscape and its expertise always provides special insight as it goes off the beaten track. On FranceRacing, he gave his feelings about the 2022 MotoGP season, frank positions that we will find here, every lunchtime, until stocks last…

He began his reflection by wondering about KTM policy in terms of human resources with the case Remy gardner. He then continued on fabio quartararo, with a revelation about his offseason which made the World Champion react and stirred up those around him. Today, David Dumain looks into the case Johann zarco...

Two pole positions and four podiums are the driver's 2022 achievements Ducati Pramac. Despite two additional races on the calendar he collected seven points less than in 2021 in a championship where he slipped from fifth to eighth place overall. And then there is this damaging constant: during his three years Ducati, he never claimed a podium in the second half of the season.

David Dumain: “ for Johann Zarco, it's bad luck in my opinion«

The speed of the double Moto2 World Champion and his technical skills are recognized by a factory Ducati who wants to keep it. However, the drought of his record in terms of MotoGP victories is starting to raise questions. And David Dumain gives his answer: “ Johann Zarco a slight lack of self-confidence which makes him miss the departures or not bring the last stone to his building. What he does is fantastic, we must not forget it. It is the highest level of motorcycle sport. He faces incredible drivers but the fact that he didn't win, when you're under such pressure at that level, it can become blocking ».

He adds : " I think he is looking for the solution that would allow him to seize his chance. At various times in a driver's career, luck presents itself like for Aleix Espargaró this year, or for Ben Spies a few years ago. There are some who only won one victory, who had their chance. Johann Zarco failed at the very start of his MotoGP career. He was beaten away by Dani Pedrosa, who was not in a good phase. There is always someone to stop Johann Zarco from winning ».

« It's bad luck in my opinion » he analyzes. “ It's not just psychological blockages because I don't think we have any when we ride at this level. I think he's just unlucky too. When it should rain, it doesn't rain for example ". Then David Dumain ends with this general good feeling: “ when we are French, we can only be happy to have two drivers who are extremely efficient. Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo are there. We can be disappointed by the fact that Fabio Quartararo was not World Champion, that Johann Zarco did not win. But they make podiums, it’s magical! It's an enchanted time for the French motorcycle fan ».
