When we talk about who will soon be able to challenge the supremacy of Marc Márquez in MotoGP, the name that often comes up is that of Fabio Quartararo. But this succession is already materializing with concrete results. The one who beats Marc Márquez this year or who gets in his way, even in the pit lane, is indeed Álex Rins. The Suzuki rider beat the official Honda on his home ground in Austin thanks to a fall from the one who had never been defeated in Texas. The GSX-RR rider did it again at Silverstone, but this time on a regular basis. We will have to take into account this discreet but efficient 23-year-old Spaniard…

Alex Rins gained a little more volume in the MotoGP peloton after a performance at Silverstone at the end of which he achieved his goal. A performance which brought this British Grand Prix among the most hotly contested races in history. Alex Rins crossed the finish line on the Silverstone circuit only 13 thousandths ahead of the championship leader, Marc Márquez, who led the race.

The one who then shared the box with Sylvain Guintoli repeated what Valentino Rossi had already succeeded in 2001 at Phillip Island against Max Biaggi. The Doctor then had a lead of 13 thousandths over his compatriot. On three occasions such tiny gaps were noted in Grand Prix: at Assen in 1975, the gap between Barry Sheene et Giacomo Agostini was 0,000 seconds. In 1996, Alex Crivillé et Mick doohan were only separated by 2 thousandths. Tony Elias et Rossi ten years later in Estoril found themselves in the same bracket.

That's it for the statistics. But as for the Suzuki stand, its team manager was intensely living the present moment. Davide Brivio was indeed ecstatic when taking stock of this Battle of Britain: “ What a victory! ". And he admitted: “ I always hoped to have such a duel, especially with Marc Márquez ».

« Álex was just great, he stayed behind and kept a cool head. He kept a very intelligent pace, analyzing the situation closely and waiting for the right moment to risk the attack for victory. It was perfect, simply fantastic » declared the Italian, who insisted: “ it's not easy to win against a driver like Márquez, so we are very happy ».

Brivio also positively evaluated the performance of Sylvain Guintoli, which came in twelfth place. The Frenchman contributed to the success of Silverstone, like the rest of the Suzuki team, said the team manager: “ Sylvain gained valuable points and helped a lot with the development of the bike. All team members and staff in Japan are working very hard and I would like to thank everyone for their commitment ».
