Davide Brivio is, this Sunday evening, a fulfilled man. All his dreams came true in 2020, with the finale in Valencia consecrating one of his riders as MotoGP World Champion. This as 2020 marks the centenary of the Hamamatsu brand. The consecration of a project started in 2015 with carefully counted and managed resources... A commando spirit which is also felt in the cohesion of the group.

The consecrations of Joan mir and Suzuki in this 2020 season are also the success of a Davide Brivio with unanimously recognized merits. The team manager brought this evening, to Valencia, and on a plate, a title that had eluded the Hamamatsu manufacturer for 20 years. A real gamble, because the Italian left a bubble of comfort in which he evolved with Valentino Rossi, then aware of his glory at Yamaha .

On Sky Sport MotoGP, Davide Brivio takes stock: “ it was a dream, a goal. We did it at the right time, when we are also celebrating Suzuki's 100th anniversary. Not even in the best dreams would I have imagined it like this. IHere we started from scratch, creating a team with many fantastic guys and passion. Of course also great drivers, we have a very strong team. Mir is champion and even Rins can play until the end. I'm curious to see where we can get in 2021 ».

The team manager Suzuki had left a Yamaha winner and Valentino Rossi, to accept the Hamamatsu MotoGP project with enthusiasm: “ Suzuki accompanied me. We made the choices together, but sometimes I suggested things that seemed a little crazy to me. Finally they were validated, they supported me. The main thing was to find the right guys for the team. I hope to keep this atmosphere ».

“Our drivers were rookies, they are now the best”

« We must be proud of our drivers, taken when they were rookies and are now the best. We can play the title with both. This success is also due to Rins, we worked a lot with him to develop the bike ».

Brivio explains what convinced him to accept this challenge: “ when they called me, I thought it would be a good opportunity since it's a big house. We could start from scratch and it was a big challenge. Sometimes it's harder to join an existing team. At the time I was working with Rossi on his personal contracts, it was difficult to leave that job because it was stimulating. I was passionate and motivated to rebuild a team. There were those who told me I was crazy for choosing Suzuki… ».

We ask the manager Suzuki if it is difficult to have won without Marc Marquez. Here is his response: “ there was no alternative. I'm sorry for his absence, but after being injured, someone had to win this title. Better that we won it than the others… As he is a strong driver, everyone wants to challenge him in 2021 too to understand his level. We hope to return to bring an exciting championship to life. With this new generation of drivers, perhaps he will also have to commit a little more, even if he will remain the reference ».

A Portimao, in a week, for the last, Suzuki will try to win the constructor's title, the team that of the teams and Alex Rins to register as vice-world champion. A sort of grand slam!
