The 2024 season has been a memorable year for Ducati. With a historic quadruple and constructors' and teams' titles, the Borgo Panigale brand has dominated MotoGP head and shoulders. Despite this resounding success, Davide Tardozzi, Lenovo Ducati team manager, remains lucid and aware of the challenges ahead.
Ducati made history in MotoGP in 2024 with total domination. The Italian manufacturer not only won the riders' championship thanks to Jorge Martin, but also took second, third and fourth places with Pecco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez et Enea Bastianini. Moreover, Ducati won the constructors' and teams' titles, confirming its supremacy.
The Ducati GP24 was undoubtedly the best performing bike this season, leaving the other manufacturers far behind. Davide Tardozzi, team director Lenovo Ducati, stressed the importance of building on this success while remaining vigilant for 2025: “ we had a really competitive bike in 2024, and it is not so easy to improve it further. We must take the time this winter to make the right decisions. »
With only six Desmosedici on the grid in 2025, compared to eight in 2024, and the loss of top-level drivers such as George Martin left for Aprilia, bastianini, now at KTM, and Marco Bezzecchi, Ducati focuses on its factory duo.
Davide Tardozzi: “ Aprilia with Bezzecchi and Martin will be very strong, and KTM, with Viñales and Bastianini, will be formidable »
Tardozzi is confident for the future with Pecco Bagnaia, double world champion, and Marc Marquez, eight-time world champion, forming a team that he describes as a “dream”: “ Pecco and Marc are incredible riders. We will achieve a good cooperation between them and I think we will be the team to beat next year. »
The director of Ducati is also aware of the evolution of other manufacturers: " we will have tough opponents next year. Aprilia with Bezzecchi and Martin will be very strong, and KTM, with Viñales and Bastianini, will be formidable. But finally, our bike and the factory team will be very strong. »
Ducati will have to face several challenges to maintain its dominance in MotoGPPre-season testing, which begins in Sepang in just over eight weeks, will be crucial in fine-tuning the GP25 and prepare the drivers for the new season. With the arrival of Marquez and increased competition among Aprilia et KTM, Ducati must continue to innovate while relying on the cohesion and experience of its rider duo.
After a record season, Ducati enters 2025 with great ambitions and high expectations. The duo Bagnaia-Marquez represents a unique combination of talent and experience, which places the team Lenovo Ducati in the favourite position. However, the rise of the other manufacturers announces a captivating season, where each technical and strategic decision will play a key role.
